Peace Of Mind Is Nothing But A… Myth, Do You Think So?

How many times in a day, do you hear people say, “Oh, If I only I could get a new job/house/home theater  will I get peace of mind”. How many people you know really have peace of mind?

Do you think peace of mind can be achieved that quickly?

These days more and more people are practicing meditation and attending art of living classes. The stress of juggling personal commitments and business are driving most people to edge of insanity and they seek solace in these meditation classes. Self-realization gurus will tell you that if you recognize the power of your mind, you can attain peace. If you know the thought process in your mind, you will be able to control it and when you do so, the hold your mind has over you will ease.

If you think peace of mind can be attained that easily then you are wrong. If you think outside forces are responsible for marring your peace of mind, then no, because your peace of mind comes from deep within yourself. You can reach a higher level of maturity when you get uninfluenced by outside forces. When the heart is ready to tolerate, you are able to experience peace of mind.

They say the face is the mirror of the mind. Similarly, the mirror that you look into every morning cannot reflect light on its own. It can only reflect the sun’s rays. When the mind is happy, the joy is reflected on your face and the happier you look, the happier you make others feel.

Let go of your mind

What is your take in general about the mind? Do you think mind is real? Is it something you can hold in your hands? But it is definitely something you can control, right? The different states of mind that you possess at different times, are they really there? Don’t contain your body and your spirit to the fickle thoughts originated by your mind. Once you get face to face with your mind, you can rid it of its impurities and distortions. Concentrate on the self and traverse on the path to reach self-realization and reach the ultimate goal. Recognize your ultimate goal, is it to possess the biggest material achievement connived by man or is to attain eternal peace where material achievements do not matter in the least? It is time you let go of your mind and take the reins of spirituality, stay calm and peaceful and channel your energies to awaken that inner spirit in you. To keep your mind calm and receiving you have to be in a peaceful place, perhaps that is why people recede to the recesses of their rooms or the beach to practice meditation. As the sun shines brightly on a clear sky, so will your mind be clear when you are at peace with yourself.

A few quotes about mind by Gautama Buddha:

“Just as treasures are uncovered from the earth, so virtue appears from good deeds, and wisdom appears from a pure and peaceful mind. To walk safely through the maze of human life, one needs the light of wisdom and the guidance of virtue.”

“It is a man’s own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways.”

“The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, nor to worry about the future, but to live the present moment wisely and earnestly.”

“To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one’s family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one’s own mind. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him.”
