Improved Self-Confidence Equals Dream Job

Have you ever dismissed the possibility of repairing something?  Be it a scratched auto paint job, a worn area of carpet, or a hole in your favorite pants—simply because you assumed the task would be too arduous to make it worth your time? I certainly have, though the problem I struggled with was one that I literally couldn’t walk away from because it was an integral part of me: my smile. Until a few months ago, every time I looked in the mirror I was confronted with the reality that a visible chip in one of my front teeth was keeping me from attaining the picture-perfect smile I’d always dreamed of. But it wasn’t until I discovered veneers that this dream became a reality.

You see, My Problem was Largely a Cosmetic One.

Sure, my dentist had warned me that allowing a chip to go untreated could result in dental issues down the road, but given that I hadn’t encountered any yet, I had avoided looking into solutions. This can’t be an easy fix, I’d tell myself as I imagined draining my bank account and spending days on end in a dentist’s chair for the sake of vanity. And so I spent years of my life living with a chipped tooth and unaware of how easily it could be remedied.

But then something Life-changing happened:

I was offered my dream job and made a team leader at my new company. I was delighted that all of my hard work had paid off, but my new position required me to engage constantly in interactions during which I couldn’t possibly keep my flaw hidden. After all, who wants to work alongside someone who never smiles? I bit the bullet and made an appointment with my dentist, and that’s when I learned how simple correcting my problem really was.

Chipped, Broken, Crooked, Gapped, Oddly shaped and stained Teeth can Easily be Fixed.

My dentist recommended that I be fitted with a veneer, which is a translucent, thin sheath that is bonded to the front of the tooth. During my consultation I learned that veneers can be used to correct a host of cosmetic dental problems including not only chips and breaks, but also crooked, gapped, oddly shaped, and stained teeth, as well as aesthetically unpleasant fillings.

There are State-of-the-art Alternatives to Traditional Veneers.

The procedure—which can be completed in only one visit—seemed to good to be true, but I did have one reservation: traditional porcelain veneers require that some of the patient’s tooth enamel be removed for the purpose of bonding. My dentist responded to my concern by introducing me to Lumineers, a state-of-the-art alternative to traditional veneers. Unlike porcelain veneers, which are permanent, Lumineers can be removed if necessary since the patient’s tooth enamel requires little to no modification prior to bonding.

I was sold, and soon thereafter my smile was transformed (and in just one visit, as promised!). Since then, I’ve learned that my problem wasn’t only a cosmetic one—my improved communication and confidence in the workplace have helped to take my entire team to the top—and that’s something to smile about.
